I received an error message while opening a file with GIMP

Hi guys,

I received an error message while opening a file with GIMP.

The screenshot of the error message is as under. It has declared the file as an unknown file. I do not know the reason behind it.

Have you any idea for the error?

Please help.

 

GIMP Message

Opening ‘/home/tito/Videos/Dr. Cox NoOoOOOOOOO.mp4’failed:

Unknown file type

• Status: Open

I received an error message while opening a file with GIMP

Hallo Jhon,

It seems like you are trying to open a file type that is not supported by Gimp. You will therefore need to open the file using an alternative application to Gimp and then save it a format that can be opened using the Gimp application. After that you can go ahead and open it.

I received an error message while opening a file with GIMP

Dear Jhon Anderson,

There are two possibilities that GIMP failed to play this video and gave an error messages.

1- Your files is a corrupted file and you cannot play it.

2- The second possibility is more probable says that GIMP does not support this file, you can check this by right click the video and select open with a new window will open from this window select “look for appropriate program on the web” and  then you can download the exact program.
