Hi. Following steps are needed to exclude a file or folder.

  1. Go to start menu.
  2. Open security essentials.
  1. Select to the Settings icon and click “Exclude files and locations”. Then, click to browse icon.
  1. Then select either a file or folder which you want to exclude.
  1. Then Click OK.
  2. You can also add multiple files and folders by using a semicolon at the end and then click to add icon.
  1. Then select to “save changes” icon
  1. Later if you want to include that file or folder into the security essential scanning process, just select file or folder which you want to remove. Then click to “Remove” icon.
