Could you discuss thoroughly, the ways or methods on how to improve the disk performance of which the file system can find the data blocks through an indirection table such as FAT in the DOS or the Inodes in the UNIX. Can you give some advantages of having a highly performance disk. Please explain it properly, thank you so much.

The performance of hard disk is vital as the overall performance of the system depends on it. This will determine how fast your computer runs.

One way of increasing hard disk performance is by having less data. The more data in it and the more time it takes to locate specific data, just like you take more time when you search for something in a messy room. Removing unnecessary files will help in this.

Another efficient way is to defragment your hard disk. This brings related data close together so that its easier to open programs which use that data. This increases hard disk performance by a noticeable amount.
