I understand that Migration Assistant can assist in moving from MacBook running 10.6 to a new MacBook Air running 10.7. But how is it to manually upgrade to 10.7 Lion with a clean start?

Hello friend,

Well there is a way to manually upgrade Macbook Air running 10.7 to 10.7 Lion with a clean start.Just follow the steps given below- Just download the Migration Assistant from here which will allow you to interface with Lion machines- https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1420?locale=en_US. Before downloading it make sure that the Firewall is turned Off in the security tab. Also under Sharing Check the box of Internet sharing and also Check the boxes if it gives you any Ignore warnings and then activate it. After that just restart Migration Assistant and run it. Am sure you will be able to run it. Good Luck.

Thanks!!

The solution provided looks good. But still the solution used if from Migration Assistant. Nevertheless, "This update addresses an issue with the Migration Assistant application in Mac OS X Snow Leopard that prevents transfer of your personal data, settings, and compatible applications from a Mac running Mac OS X Snow Leopard to a new Mac running Mac OS X Lion."

This should work. https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1420?locale=en_US

Thanks Darren.
