Left for Dead 2 engine error

I keep getting an engine error every time the L4D2 is being updated. I cannot do anything unless I update the system as well.

The error would say

Unable to load version from steam.inf. I need some help in fixing this issue.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Left for Dead 2 engine error

Hi Homer,

As a fellow gamer myself, I understand your frustration.

The error you are encountering, “Unable to load version from steam.inf”, is an update error. The steam client is trying to update your game but it keeps failing.

First off, verify the integrity of the data in the cache:

Right-click game in library > properties > verify cache

If the error still persists, try this:

1. Restart your Steam Client and wait for the automatic update.
2. If the automatic update keeps on failing, change your download region.
3. Re-verify integrity of game cache.
4. If it still fails, uninstall the L4D2, Reboot your system and reinstall.
