My laptop takes a while to boot up completely and when it does, it displays a message that says that it has failed to connect to a Windows service “Could could not connect to System Event Notification service. This problem will prevent users from logging in …”. I have searched all over the internet but I have not found an answer to this problem. I will be glad if you helped.

I guess this is a problem with the System Event Notification service that should be running or started automatically when you start your computer. On a perfectly working computer, the System Event Notification service is started automatically with Windows. When you install Windows, by default, this service is set to automatic that’s why it runs automatically as the operating system starts booting.

To check if this service is running or not, click Start then in the search box type without quotes “services”. On the search result, right-click on Services, point to “Run as”, and then select Administrator. Scroll down and find System Event Notification then double-click it. In the System Event Notification Properties window under General tab, check the “Startup type”.

You should see Automatic. If you see a different setting or it says Manual or Disabled, set it to Automatic, click Apply, Start, and then OK. You can also access Services by clicking Start, Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance, Administrative Tools, and then double-click Services. See image.

After this, restart your computer and it should be back to normal.
