I recently cloned a VM, and now, due to identical SIDs, I am facing some issues. I guess changing the SID of my system will solve the matter. However, I am afraid don’t know how to go about it. How to change SID on Windows 7? How is it done through Sysprep?

The SID of a computer can be changed via Sysprep. To do this, login to the Windows server. Browse the URL “C\Windows\System32\Sysprep” on Internet Explorer.

Run Sysprep as administrator.

Now choose Enter System Out-of-Box  Experience from the System preparation Tool that opens up, check the box labeled generalize, select Reboot as shut down option. Hit OK.

A brand new SID will be generated by the application.
