The item is in supported format, but Zune is unable to play.

Hi everyone,

I received this error when attempting.

Synch podcasts as well:

"Can't play. Although the item appears to be in a supported format, the Zune software is unable to play it". This is odd because I am able to play the files through Zune when I open them via Win Explorer.

What is the solution?

Help please.

Here is a picture to better describe my problem.

Can't play. Although the item appears to be in a supported format, the Zune software is unable to play it

Thanks in advance.

This is a semi-common problem that Zune users encounter sometimes. It is sometimes resolved by uninstalling Zune player and reinstalling with the latest version.

The only 'guaranteed' fix that works for most people so far is to strip the broken podcasts and music files of their id3 tags with a program like Winamp or mp3tag to get Zune to not detect them as corrupted. The id3 tag is just the metadata contained within every media file that tells programs things like the artist, creator, title, album etc. These aren't necessary for playback though.

If that doesn't work please reply with more detail about the problem if possible. Does the podcast play in any other media player you have installed?

Here is another way, may this help you:

It's by burning the songs to a compact disk with the use of iTunes then rip the cd with the use of Zune software. First thing with this method is creating a playlist in iTunes, then the song you protected is added to the new playlist until you will have music of 72 minutes.

Select the Edit option and then the Preferences. From there chose the tab of Advance and click the radio button. Follow the Burn disk button then rip the song to MP3 while completing the burning process with the use of Windows Media Player. After you open the software of Zune sync the new MP3 to your Zune device.
