Internet keeps getting disconnected when I connect the Untangle box

My connection to the internet keeps getting disconnected when I connect the Untangle box. I am attempting to utilize Untangle to be connect between two routers, like this: switch –Router — Untangle/Bridge — Router — Firewall – Internet. Do I have to give a static IP address to the our external NIC?

Internet keeps getting disconnected when I connect the Untangle box

If you were using a DHCP IP addressing before, then it may be possible that it is having a problem. In case you made any updates to the Untangle application then they may have led to the modification of the DHCP settings which are making connection to the internet to be a problem. I will therefore suggest that you try the following:

• Go to the Untangle DHCP settings and see if they have changed. If so you will need to restore them.
• In case you made any updates, you will need to restore the system to an earlier state before you installed those updates that might be ones leading to the application not to work properly.
