Hi guys,

I received an error message when I wanted to install Inventor 2012 Sp1.

I use Windows XP 32 bit. I have no idea why I received the error message. Have you any idea of the error message?

Please help.

Error 1402. Could not open key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareAutodeskRegistryVerison16.0. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.

Hello James,

Error 1402. Could not open key" message is actually coming from the Microsoft Installer, you should solve this problem by following these steps.

Go to run from the start menu > type "regedit"

Select the entry mentioned in the error message through the registry.

Right click on the registry key's parent directory, chose Permissions.

Go to Advance button to add a new user.

Type in Everyone as the new user and click OK

Now configure the permission for user Everyone to full Control

Now uninstall Inventor 2012 and re install.
