Hi! Friends,
I am having a hard time installing BitDefender. In the middle of the installation process I met an error that tells me, that the installer has insufficient privileges to modify some files in my computer.
I pasted below with the post of the error message screen that I cut.
The Installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file:
C:Program FilesCommon FilesBitDefender
Threat Scannerav32bit_000PluginsTBDA,tmp.
Â
As I am analyzing on the error message, I am thinking of my rights on the computer, but when I checked on it I am logged as administrator, and there is no restriction with my computer on any installation.
Â
Please share some ideas on how I can get through my installation.
Â
Thanks.

The Installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file
1. Start your computer in Safe Mode.
-
Restart the computer;
-
Repeatedly press the "F8" key several times before Microsoft Windows begins to load (you need to press "F8" until you will be displayed a text menu);
-
Select "SAFE MODE" in the text menu and press "Enter".
-
Wait while Windows loads in Safe Mode; this process ends with a confirmation message; click "Yes" to acknowledge.
2. Now, click on Start from Windows, choose Run type "regedit" then click on Ok. Go to the next registry locations :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARE , right click on the BitDefender registry entry and choose Delete
Â
3. After that go to the next locations from your system :
C:Program FilesCommon Files and delete the BitDefender folderÂ
C:Program FilesBitDefender and delete all the files that you can, from this location .
Â
Because in Safe Mode you are able to run a scan with BitDefender, there are some protected files which cannot be deleted . For example the following ones: bdshellext.dll, productinfo.dll and txmlx.dll or from the next location C:Program FilesBitDefenderBitDefender 2010ENU the bdshellext.ui file .
C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication Data and delete the BitDefender folderÂ
C:Documents and Settings<current_user>Application Data and delete the BitDefender folder .
Â
Run it and reboot your system when you will be prompted .
Â
Â
Thank you.
