Hello,

I have a habit of listening to songs in my mp3 player, every time I am traveling outside. Everything was working just fine. Last night, I plugged my mp3 into my laptop to download some new songs. But, my PC was notifying me that the “USB device is not recognized”. Then, I tried to plug it in other USB ports but it still failed to work. Then, I reinstalled the USB driver on my PC. Again I got a failure. I don’t know why it is happening.

Moreover, the entire play lists in my mp3 player vanished, after trying to connect it again and again. It’s a very bad thing for me. What should I do know? Can anybody help me?

Thank you

Hello,

Lots of us may have already experienced that problem of pop up message such as “USB device not recognized”.

There is a most common solution to that problem. And that is a power supply. It sounds unbelievable but why don't you try it first? . All you have to do is to simply unplug the USB device and shutdown your laptop. Unplug power supply from the socket and just wait for several minutes (3-5 minutes). Then, plug it into the socket and restart the laptop again. This method may help solve the problem.

But if this method does not resolve the problem. Try to do the method below.

The most common cause of pop up message, "USB device not recognized" problem, is a missing driver or downloading error. You need to reinstall the USB device. So, right click My Computer, select Manage then click the Device Manager and uninstall all the USB devices under the "Universal Serial Bus controllers". Then, after uninstalling the USB controllers, restart your laptop and reinstall the USB controllers. After you reinstalled the USB controllers, you have to shutdown the computer for several minutes before you turn it on, just so it will work properly. Then plug the mp3 player. It will recognize the new device.

But if it is still not working, try this one.

I guess the problem is in your USB ports. Try to plug other devices or flash drive, just to make sure if the USB ports have problem. But if it works, well one thing I can assure you, the problem is your mp3 player's connector. Do try to change the USB connector of your mp3 players.

Another reason can be a virus. Try to scan your computer with anti-virus programs. Because some viruses affect the hardware of your computer just stay free from viruses to avoid other problems.

Hope these methods will help you.

There are also methods that you can use to solve your problem. First is, do try to check your mp3 player in other laptops of your friends. If it works, there is a problem with your USB port or on your motherboard. Second is, try to check the USB port, maybe it had became loose. I also encountered that problem before. I'm using my memory card reader and when I plug it in, the message pops up "USB device Not Recognized". I just unplugged and re-plugged it tightly, and it works.

But if those methods don't work, try this one. Reformat your laptop to refresh all the drivers. But before you reformat your laptop, you have to back-up all your important files first.

Hope these methods can help you.
