Inaccessible Pendrive after running Kaspersky Anti virus

I have bought a pen drive some days ago. It was working well, better service and high speed. I gave it to one of my friends and after getting it back, I inserted it to the USB port. But the system cannot detect this mini drive. It shows the following message "port is not available for this drive".

I am using Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 with 1 year license key. It scanned the whole device and deleted more than 13,000 of virus and Malware activity from it. I have never seen such types of virus previously.

All are okay. Kaspersky removed all the harmful programs. But there is still a problem in this device. The system cannot detect this device and open the file. After every scan by Kaspersky, it asks to restart Windows. I don't understand what to do this time.

I tried to format it but it cannot perform the said format.

Hey,

Well, I can see that the problem you’re facing is concerned with both your computer and your USB drive. So here, I’m giving out some possible solutions to help you out.

There maybe two reasons for this problem. Probably, it's a problem with your computer or with your pen drive.

1. 1st of all you have to format your pen drive. It seems that some of the virus have affected your computer too, that’s why it doesn’t perform the format. So I’m giving some ways in which you can format your pen drive.

2. I need to know whether you have tried any other pen drive or not. Try at least 3-4 drives of different sizes and brands of pen drive to see if they work or not.

3. If it still doesn’t work, then may be something has corrupted your USB hub drivers. You can uninstall the USB drivers and re-install it using any USB utility software. For that –

  • Right-Click My-Computer.
  • Click Manage – Device Manager- Universal Serial port Bus.
  • Re-install the driver.

4. Another way to Format your pen drive is through OS Command Prompt. For that:

  • Open command prompt or do the same by typing "cmd" in the "Run" form Start Menu.
  • Then from there type format F: /FS: NTFS /x.
  • F shows the drive which you want to format.
  • If it shows error then TryF: /FS: DEA /x.

5. I have looked for this solution and found out a solution from flashdriveblog.com. The link is given below, see if it can help you or not.

6. If you do not want any virus to enter into your PC through the pen drive. Then,

  • Turn off auto-play,
  • Browse the pen drive instead of double clicking the pen drive. Use the explorer mode.

7. I would suggest you to Try using HP format tool Download

It is a great tool.

Hi Margo,

You have to reformat your USB or pen drive, which can solve your problem.

Did you try inserting your USB to another computer, if the USB can detect? If you did, then you have to format it.

You can also use the HP USB disk storage format tool. If the PC can’t format your USB because of the virus infection in your USB, you can download it here.

Hope this can help.
