I would like to know more about Cloud Computing. How does it work, what are its uses and advantages, how does it differ from what was being used, and is it being used by many people?

Hi,

Many people just use their local machines, the ones in their offices and homes, to do the processing and use it as storage for their files as well. Cloud computer allows for people to save their files on the cloud, meaning they can have their files saved in a server in a remote location through the internet and retrieve it anytime they want as long as the server and the internet is up. They can also use the cloud to do the processing for them hence using netbooks can allow a user to still do complex tasks.

Thank you. Hope it helps.

Cloud computing, in general, is a term used for anything related to distribution of hosted services on the internet. These kinds of services are basically divided into three categories: SaaS or Software-as-a-Service, IaaS or Infrastructure-as-a-Service, and PaaS or Platform-as-a-Service. The name “cloud computing” was inspired by the cloud symbol in flowcharts and diagrams normally used to represent the internet. A cloud can be private or public.

A cloud that sells services to anyone over the internet is a public cloud. A private cloud is a proprietary network or a data center that supplies hosted services to a limited number of people. At the moment, Amazon Web Services or AWS is the largest public cloud provider. A virtual private cloud is created when a service provider uses public cloud resources to create the private cloud.

Public or private, the main objective of cloud computing is to provide easy and scalable access to computing resources and IT services.
