For this entire week, I wasn’t able to play Uncharted Waters Online and all my game progress were put to a halt. I am not able to continue my pending game quests and missions. Every time I start the game, I see this “Error 361” on my screen and the game doesn’t continue. Any help is appreciated.

I See “Error 361” Whenever I Play Uncharted Waters Online

If you only see this error on a particular game then the problem is with that game alone. “Error 361” does not entirely point to the game “Uncharted Waters Online” but to its security system which is GameGuard. This security system doesn’t start with Windows but with the game only. When you start “Uncharted Waters Online”, GameGuard will also launch and will run in the background.

When you exit the game, GameGuard will also terminate its process. “Error 361” in GameGuard means GameGuard doesn’t install properly or it was cancelled the time it was installing making the installation incomplete. If you were already playing the game then that means GameGuard was properly working before. But if you are now seeing this error, it means part of GameGuard must have been deleted or corrupt.

Since GameGuard is part of the game, you cannot install it manually nor download it from the GameGuard website because it is not a program that you can just download. GameGuard is part of the game development and it is only the developers who can add it to the game. Now, to fix this error, the only feasible way is to reinstall the game itself.

If reinstalling the entire game is a big problem, one workaround is to back up the entire game folder excluding the GameGuard folder. Create a new folder on your hard drive then copy the entire “Uncharted Waters Online” installation folder to that new folder you created. Once copying is finished, on the backup folder, delete the GameGuard folder to remove it from the backup copy.

Next, uninstall and reinstall the game. Download the free version of Revo Uninstaller and install it. Once installed, start Revo Uninstaller then select “Uncharted Waters Online” among the applications and click “Uninstall”. Follow the normal uninstall process. When uninstall is complete, click “Scan” to scan your computer for any leftover files and delete everything it finds. This removes everything the program created on your computer.

When it is finished, close Revo Uninstaller then install Uncharted Waters Online back. This should restore the GameGuard files. After this, go to the backup folder of “Uncharted Waters Online” then copy the game folder back to the default installation folder in drive C. This should restore the game back to where you stopped.
