Hi,

While copying some files I received an error message on the OS X Mountain Lion (desktop and server operating system for Macintosh). I tried several ways to make it ok.

Have a look at the message below. What does it mean?

Please help me to get a remedy.

Thanks in advance.

Copy

The operation can’t be completed because an item with the name “.DS_Store” already exists.

One possibility would be a permissions issue. On the external drive, do you have it set to ignore ownership? Select the drive and choose File -> Get Info.

Try checking that box if it isn't already checked.

Also, how are you doing the copy? Be specific. Are you copying a single folder, groups of folders, contents of a folder, etc? Are you copying in the Finder or using some other app?
