I need to convert jpg to icon file

I have a project going on and this time I am ask to create jpg file to an icon file. It will be used as a favicon of a specific website. Now, I would like to ask. What is the best way to convert this jpg file to an icon file? Is there special software that can instantly convert jpg files to icon files? Please tell me how to convert jpg to icon file.

Hey Stepheen,

There are unlimited ways to convert images from .jpg to .ico (icon) formats. You can find free or paid applications, easy or professional user interfaces, long or shorts ways. The way I would personally convert jpg to icons is the following:

Go to http://images.my-addr.com/converter_jpg_to_png_online_freeware_tool.php and convert your jpg to png format. Once converted, go to http://www.convertico.com/ and convert your png to icon format.

That above method is free, easy to use, and no need to download anything.

Hi Stepheen,

There are various software available online that can be used to convert .JPG to .ICO files. One of them available online is http://www.prodraw.net/favicon/index.php.

Just go to this site and upload any image file including .jpg file that you are asking and get it converted into .ICO file of your choice of size as well.

Alternate solution:- Open your .JPG file in any image editor like MS-Paint and follow the instructions below.

1. Open Microsoft Paint and select "File" and then "Open" from the toolbar menu. Select the file and then click "Open."

2. Select "File" and then choose "Save As" from the toolbar.

3. Type a name for the file and add ".ico" to the end of the file name.

4. Select "GIF" as the "Save As Type." Close the file.

5. Re-open the file by selecting "File" and "Open" from the toolbar. From the "Files As Type" drop-down list, chose "ICO(*.ICO)."

6. Locate the icon file and press "Open."
