Hi Experts,

I have failed to delete a file detected by Avast. While deleting it says

Operation did not complete successfully because the file contains a virus.

What does it mean by the message mentioned above? Is there any problem with my Avast?

Please suggest me to solve this problem.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Desiraelexa,

As I have found out in your attached image file, you are not DELETING it. You attempted to repair it. Since the file is detected by avast as virus, it cannot be repaired. Unless it is a known file. But it is detected as virus therefore it should be deleted. Find the delete in the drop down menu and you should be able to delete the file.

Hi, Desiraelexa!

I can see in screenshot the effected file is explorer.exe. Explorer.exe is the main file of windows xp. And windows xp do not allow deleting this file.
