Hi! Masters,

I was playing with my newly installed games, and I observed that my computer is not running on its usual speed.

I suspected for some virus infection in my computer since the game installer I used is just from the internet downloads.

I decided to do some virus scan of my computer using Avira Antivirus, and when the scan finished, it found a lot of viruses and an error message appeared on my screen.

I pasted below.

End Program – Avira Premium Security Suite – Sys.
This program is  not responding

To return to Windows and check the status of the program,
click Cancel

If you choose to end the program immediately, you will lose
any unsaved data. To end the program now, click End Now.

As I understand on the  error, my Antivirus is malfunctioning.

Please advice me on how to fix this error and how to maintain a clean virus free computer.

Hoping to hear from you guys.

Thanks a lot.

Dear Simonthames,

Almost 80% of the games available on internet have viruses so please avoid downloading from the internet. Regarding your issue, your Avira Antivirus is definitely infected with viruses and not in a position to repair or delete that virus. These viruses crashed your Avira, but there are some suggestions for you.

1. Uninstall your Avira Antivirus and restart your computer.
2. Try to scan your system online  and remove viruses which you found.
3. Download a fresh copy of best Antivirus from web. After installation and update, you should run a complete system scan for cleaning of hidden viruses.

Take care
Kate

Hello Simonthames,

You can use the task manager to close the avira antivirus that has just frozen; it might be just a temporary error that has caused it to malfunction which may be rectified by restarting it. Just press CTR+ALT+DEL of the keyboard and then open the task manager and then locate avira antivirus from the list of processes which will probably not be responding.

Select the process and then click on end process. Restart your computer and then re-scan your system again and see if everything goes well this time.

If avira continues to malfunction then I will suggest that you uninstall it and then try other alternative antivirus programs like AVG and bitdefender.

Regards
Clair Charles
