To block spams e-mails, you need to follow the simple steps.

  1. Open outlook 2007.
  2. Go to tools, options, and then select the Junk E-mail option present on the preferences tab.
  3. The Junk E-mail options dialog box will appear with four levels to choose from.
  4. You have to be careful while selecting these levels, as some of these may give false positives and will change the genuine messages you receive into spams.
  5. After selecting one of these options, it is advised to regularly check the spam list for any false positives.

There are four levels, No automatic filtering(Sender-Specific), low (Protection is moderate), high(Protects but also gives false positives) and Safe list.

If you use Microsoft Office Outlook as email client and you are receiving spam messages, you can easily get rid of them by enabling the spam filter. There are different ways how to filter out spam messages and here are two: filtering individual accounts and using automatic junk filtering.

If you are receiving different junk mails from varying people, the best way to get rid of them is with the automatic junk filtering. In Microsoft Office Outlook, click “Junk” then select “Junk E-mail Options”.

Select Junk E-mail Options
Select Junk E-mail Options

On the next screen, in “Options” tab, select whatever option you think is the right level of filtering then click “OK”. Note: when selecting stricter settings, this would mean you will occasionally lose legit email to the spam folder. To get around this, go to “Safe Senders” tab then add the email addresses you are fine getting messages from.

Check “Also trust email from my Contacts” and “Automatically add people I email to the Safe Senders List” then click “OK”. On the other hand, if you want to block specific people from sending you messages, in Microsoft Office Outlook, go to “Home” tab then right-click the message you think is spam and select “Junk”. Select “Block Sender” to automatically filter this user’s future messages to the Junk folder.
