My computer is directly to my modem as write this question. As you can see, I can go online. The problem is I can't go online if I connect my router to the modem, even if I wire my computer directly to the router.

My modem came from Comcast. My router is a WRT54G v6.

Is this the initial installation of the router or was this working before?

If this is the initial installation of your router, press the reset button of the router for 30 seconds while it is turned ON. After that, plug the cable Ethernet cable from your modem to the Internet port of the router. Plug your computer to the router after. Check if you can already go online.

This was working before. I can't go online right after a power outage

If this was working before, then the power outage has corrupted the firmware of the router. The firmware has to be upgrade before reinstalling the router.

I think you are right.

I went to access the router page. I found out that the firmware of the router is currently at 1.0.0. I checked with the Linksys website. They have a version 1.28.0. I also checked the firmware release notes. It stated the fixes that I want included in my router.

Probably, I'll probably go ahead with your suggestion.

Any last minute instructions you may want to add?

Last minute instructions?

I would suggest that you reset the router after upgrading its firmware. Pressing the reset button would complete the process.

While reinstalling the router, change its IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1. Also, clone the MAC address of your working computer to the router.

I forgot to add.

Do not plug any device into the USB port of the modem (if your modem has a USB port), when connecting the router to the modem. It is because all of the traffic from the Internet will go to the USB port instead of the Ethernet.
