I cannot open my scanner program.

Hi All,

I have 3 years old Microtek ScanMaker i320 that has worked fine… until I bought a new HP Media Center PC, model m7248n, running Windows XPMedia. I installed the drivers from the scanner's CD and from the Microtek website. I've used 3 different USB 2.0 cables, two different 2.0 hubs and also plugged directly into the computer.

I've installed and uninstalled manually, from the device manager, with the uninstall button and probably a few other ways that I don't remember off-hand. No matter how I do it, all I get is that the scanner can't be found, even though a message screen will show that a "new USB ICE device was found" , but the scanner icon keeps the red X over it. Any help will be much appreciated.

Many scanners are usually support the system, and are simple to install and run. This guide will take you step-by-step through using your scanner and also what direction to go in the event that cannot find the scanner. Basically plug it in and try this! When it is a newer Universal Serial Bus (USB) scanner, chances are that it's going to just work.

Two reasons why you will get this particular message.

Your scanner is not supported. The most frequent type of scanner not really support old parallel port or even Lexmark All-in-One printer/scanner/faxes. The driver for your scanner is not being auto loaded.
