I can no longer open PPT/PPTX/PPS email attachments on Outlook 2010

Hi,

I decided to uninstall Office 2013 Preview, but it somehow affected other components of Office 2010.

Now, I can no longer open PPT/PPTX/PPS email attachments on Outlook 2010. I can still preview the file on the e-mail, and I am able to save it onto the computer to be opened.

When I open attached PowerPoint files I receive a pop-up prompting me to repair the file. When I click OK, another pop-up comes along and says an error has prevented me from accessing the file.

I have attached the two errors in the screenshots below. . I am on the debating on reinstalling everything on my computer, not just Office 2010.

Thank you for any support you can provide on this matter before I go through with this.

Hi, Good day!

Actually still you can open PPT/PPTX/PPS email attachments on MS Outlook 2010.

First, why? Because It’s for safety purposes only, sometimes a PPT/PPTX/PPS are source of viruses, so that's why we can’t open the file because it’s just block.

How to unblock to open the file?

Simple, just right click PPT/PPTX/PPS and select the properties. There you can marked the unblock button then click ok.

Now you can open the file PPT/PPTX/PPS in MS OUTLOOK.

Hi Hall,

The error is not actually with your Outlook rather it’s targeting your MS PowerPoint Application. So I hope you did not reinstall your Outlook as this would not help at all. One of the main causes of this error is when the file is damaged. You can ask for another copy and try to open it up. Another possible cause is when this file is created from a higher version of PPT against to what is installed in your computer. The good thing is you can still try to recover this file. All you need to do is open the file from a version where it was created. When the file successfully load, save another instance of the file and this time do a “Save as” and then from the “Save as type” dropdown select the one that talks about the version of the outlook you have on your computer. Hope this helps!
