Help please. I am even unable to get my Dell Dimension 1100 to even boot up in safe mode. All I get is the blue screen of death with the following stop error message …. STOP: 0x0000007E.

I have tried every thing and now I am out with ideas. Can someone please end this mystery and resolve this problem.

The Stop: 0x0000007E error generally occurs when a System Preparation image is created on a computer that uses an Intel processor and is then deployed to a computer that does not use an Intel processor. The error could also be due to some memory issue. To resolve this issue you can perform following steps….

  1. Login to the safe mode
  2. Go to Run and type regedit in the text box.
  3. Find and then click the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMControlSet001ServicesIntelppm
  4. Right-click the Start entry, and then click Modify.
  5. Enter value 4 (four) in the Value box >> OK
  6. Exit Registry Editor.

After completing the above steps restart your computer to make the changes effective.

If you have the installation CD, boot to it and do a Repair of the OS. This should get you going again without the loss of any data or programs.

After you press power button to start your system, start tapping F2 Button and then in the BIOS window look for the option Power Management and then look for the option Load Default, highlight the option and press Enter. It will ask you YES or No. Select Yes and your computer will restart in windows……..
