I am using Windows 7 premium 64bit, I have installed Outlook 2010 beta. It was working fine. But now I am facing some problems that, I am unable to drop contact info in the contacts list in Outlook 2010 and import or export button are disappearing. I also have some other email accounts but they are working well in Outlook.

I know it can synchronize many numbers of contacts but this time it has failed to import contacts from those accounts.  And I am also unable to grab contacts from Outlook 2007.

I also once faced same problem and searched a lot for this answer. It is no doubt due to a bug in Outlook 2010 beta. You can perform following steps in order to reach the solution.

Office 2010 beta export/import

  1. File
  2. Open
  3. Import
  4. You should now be able to see old import and export wizard.

There may also be a way defined below….

Click on the “File Tab” (extreme LHS of the ribbon). Down the LHS is Business Contact Manager and the import and export option is at the top of the list.

There is also another option for its solution. You can use anyone of your email account to go between, as I used my hotmail account.

  • Export Gmail contacts to an Outlook CSV file.
  • Log in to hotmail. (The web mail version and not through outlook)
  • Import your Gmail contacts into Hotmail.
  • Make sure Outlook 2010 is configured with your Hotmail.
  • In Outlook, click on contacts. All your hotmail contacts should be there
  • Simply copy/paste your contacts from the Hotmail to the Gmail contacts. You can copy whole contacts or by groups or even individually.

As a result, Outlook 2010 is still infected but I have my Gmail contacts in Outlook 2010. I use Hotmail account, you can try with some other, but I am not sure whether it will work or not.

Facing Problem with Outlook Express

Hi,

I have the exact same problem. It is clearly a bug in Outlook 2010 beta. But I was impatient to import my Gmail contacts into Outlook, so I worked around the problem, using my Hotmail account as a go-between:

1. Export Gmail contacts to a Outlook .csv file
2. Log in to Hotmail (the webmail version, not through Outlook)
3. Import your Gmail contacts into Hotmail (it will create a mess if you have kept different contact lists)
4. Make sure Outlook 2010 is configured with your Hotmail (using the Outlook Connector)
5. In Outlook, click on Contacts. All your Hotmail contacts should be there.
6. Simply copy/paste your contacts from the Hotmail contacts to the Gmail contacts. You can copy wholesale, or by group, or individually, doesn't matter. I tried drag and drop, that DOESN'T work. Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V work, on the other hand.

As a result, Outlook 2010 is still buggy, but I now have all my Gmail contacts in Outlook 2010.

Good luck with that!
