I am having problem of saving files in my Microsoft Word

Hello experts,

I am having problem of saving files in my Microsoft Word. Below error messages were encountered every time I attempt to save:

  • Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error.
  • There is an unrecoverable disk error on file ~WRL3822.tmp.
  • There is not enough memory or disk space to complete the operation.
  • There is  not enough memory or disk space to display or print the picture.

My stand alone PC with XP Home SP3 runs on a Pentium 4 CPU at a clock speed of 3.06 GHz. It has a 280 GB FAT32 hard disk and 1 GB of RAM. I have MS Office 2003 installed.

The spyware, anti-virus, disk check, updates, as well as internet security program F-Secure were already checked. I had also tried to make the files with F-Secure on and off. Detect & repair word was also done. I deleted the normal.dot and ran the MS Word via command line “winword.exe /a”.

With all these attempts to solve the problem, still nothing helps. My files were already lost and I hope somebody could help me on this.

Please help me.

Thanks and Regards.

Hi Goldman Diane,

The problem may due to disk space. If you are running out of disk space Microsoft word will not create its temporary folders and leads to the failure of auto recovery. So check the memory space for the drive you installed Microsoft word and allocate sufficient space to it.

In case you allocated enough space and even though the problem exits then run the file system and fix all the file system errors.

Thanks.

Hi Goldman Diane,

Your disk space is already full.  I suggest you try to delete some files that are in your computer.  You should also need to delete cookies, history and temporary internet files as these also eat up memory space.  Go to Control Panel then click on Internet Options > click "Delete" > put a check on Cookies, History, and Temporary internet Files.  Restarting your computer also helps.

Try any of the workarounds below:

1. Check on your hard drive if it is already full. If it is, try to remove unused files to free some space.

2. Save your doc files to your local hard drive. Do not save on a shared folder.

3. Rename your doc file and then try to re-save it again.

4. Save your doc file on Safe Mode.

5. If you are running Win XP, install the latest service pack.
