Hi Mariannebford,

Don’t worry. Have you checked for drivers for function keys in you drivers disk that you got from the seller? Please check if there is any kind of driver, install them and restart. I am sure you will have them working. One method to check the “Fn” key is to press “Fn” and “Esc” at a time, hold for a while and release them at once. It will open the BIOS setting. If it does not happened means that your “Fn” key is not working then it’s a hardware problem and you should take your laptop to hardware specialist.

Thank you.

Hi,

I suggest making a call the store of your laptop and telling them about the problem that you encountered maybe they can give you solutions and as I know there will be a warranty for it. Maybe there is installation software in key functioning aside from your OS Software. Hope I can give you assistant on this matter.

Thanks and Regards.

Hi Mariannebford,

Normally keys are ready to function after you install Operating System, otherwise it’s a hardware problem. So you should call the person or store where you bought it and tell them about the problem or if it still in warranty they will handle it for free, if not you can just buy a USB keyboard.

Thank you.

If that’s a laptop, replacing the built-in keyboard might be a problem because finding the correct one for your laptop’s model might be a challenge. Anyway, replacing the keyboard might not be a problem because you can always use or buy a USB keyboard. It is cheap and plugs easily to any USB ports.

Also, if it gets broken like when a key stops working, you can easily replace it by buying a new one. You can also buy a wireless keyboard like this one on eBay: Ewin foldable Bluetooth keyboard. This foldable wireless keyboard folds neatly the size of a wallet and it has built-in touchpad on the right. It costs $46.49 plus $6 shipping.

It connects to the laptop via Bluetooth.
