How to transfer emails from old pc to the new computer

I am having a difficulty helping a friend with a particular problem she has with her two computers. One of the computers is an old one running on Win98 and a new one running on Win XP Pro and both the computer has Office 2000 installed on them. The old computer has some emails saved on outlook that I am yet to find a way of moving them to the new PC.

The problem comes in when I try moving the emails to the new computer; only the shortcuts are transferred but the emails are nowhere to be seen. The messages are saved in the “My Shortcuts” folder under her own file names.

Can someone please help me figure out a way how to transfer these emails to the new computer?

Hello Roy,

I really cannot get you clearly. But if you have to transfer the emails to the computer you do not need to copy the emails and paste them to the new computer. All you need to do is configure your outlook account on the new computer so that you can continue receiving emails from mail box on the internet mail so that you can read them offline using outlook.

But if you have downloaded the emails and saved them in a file on the computer, then you can use a pen drive to transfer the files to the new computer.

Dear Roy Begum,

Its very simple task to transfer your Outlook mails from one PC to other. There is an option of creating backup of your mails in Office Out Look. That is creating back up naming .pst file, and link that backup to your new Outlook.

Follow these steps to create backup.

File Menu>Click Backup
