Recently I upgraded my computer from windows 7 to windows 8 and so I tried to install SEP 12.1.2 in my windows 8 machine and it failed as it rolled back.How can I solve this issue and install SEP?(screenshot below)

This is a most common issue now happening in windows 8 machines during the installation of SEP. The main reason behind this is a patch named KB2781197 that was rolled into windows 8 operating systems by Microsoft in 2013 which is a windows defender update.

So in order to solve this issue you can either try removing this patch or by turning off defender and then continue with the installation.

For removing the patch KB2781197 navigate to Control Panel, Programs and Features, Installed Updates, and remove KB2781197 by clicking on uninstall by right clicking on it in the list.
