I use Internet Explorer as my default web browser. Since lately there have been many threats about virus attacks from Wi-Fi and many other ways. So I want to know how to check for the latest update of internet explorer?
Step 1: Go to ‘Start’ menu.
Step 2: In the search bar type Internet Explorer or search for the options. If you can see Internet Explorer icon, then select it.
Step 3: Wait for the web page to load.
Step 4: On the top right-hand side, click on the ‘tools’ icon.
Step 5: From the drop-down list, select ‘About Internet Explorer’.
Step 6: In the following dialog box, click on the checkbox ‘Install new updates automatically’. By clicking this option all the latest updates from Internet Explorer will be automatically installed without your prompt.
Step 7: In order to see what updates are been seeded by the Internet Explorer, click on the blue words under ‘Update versions’.
If your default web browser is Microsoft Internet Explorer and you want to update to the latest version, it will depend on your current operating system. If you have Microsoft Windows XP, the highest possible version you can install is Microsoft Internet Explorer 8. If you have Microsoft Windows Vista, the highest possible version you can install is Microsoft Internet Explorer 9.
If you have Microsoft Windows 7, the highest possible version you can install is Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 but you need to update to Windows 7 Service Pack 1. If you have Microsoft Windows 8, Microsoft Internet Explorer 10 comes pre-installed. To install Microsoft Internet Explorer 11, you need to update to the latest Service Pack, Windows 8.1.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 does not support Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012. The latest Microsoft web browser is Microsoft Edge but it is only available for Microsoft Windows 10. If you want to use or try this web browser, you need to upgrade your operating system to Windows 10.
