How to share a file in network

This is simple thing if you know about the windows basics. I am going to answer you with a assumption. That is you are using windows 7.

Ok. First connect to the network and select the file need to be shared. The right click on the particular file and you can see there is a sub menu called “Share with” All the network you have joined and save will be list on it and you can select the network and then follow the simple instruction you have.

If you need to share a folder, the procedure is also same. The difference is there are two places share. First one is the one I have already mentioned. Second one is you can select the properties from the menu you got from right clicking and there is tab called share and you can go to that tab. Then you can see a button called “share” click it and select the network you need to share the folder.

How to share a file in network

  1. Open Windows Explorer (or My Computer).
  2. Navigate to the file, folder or drive folder to be shared, and click once on its icon to select it.
  3. From either the File menu or the right-click menu, choose the "Sharing and Security…" option. A new Properties window appears. If this option did not appear on the menu, ensure that a valid file or folder was selected in the previous step.
  4. Click the Network tab in the Properties window. If no Network tab appears in the window, but a Sharing tab appears instead, close this window and ensure the Simple File Sharing option was enabled in the earlier step before proceeding.
  5. Click the Share This Folder option in the Properties window to enable sharing of this resource. This allows all other computers on the local network to access file(s) but not modify them. To grant others permission to modify these files, click the "Allow Network Users to Change My Files" checkbox to enable this option.

Alternatively, if the Network tab is not enabled, make required settings in the Sharing tab to configure the equivalent sharing. Choose "Share this folder" to enable sharing.

  6. Click Apply or OK to save these settings.
