Hi. To learn how to open UDF file system, first download the Virtual CloneDrive app and after it gets downloaded, click on it to open it and install the software. Write existing data needs to be clicked on so that a new window gets opened. Click on file, open and then browse the UDF file which needs to be extracted. Select the destination where the extracted file needs to be saved and then click on write. Alternatively, MagicISO can be used as well.

Download the app, install it and then open it. Then, click on file, open and then open the file from the PC and double-click on it. Select the icon of the ISO extractor and select the folder where the extracted file needs to be saved. To begin the extraction, select all files and click on extract to option. After the extraction completes, the files can be opened.

Hope we helped.

“UDF” stands for “Universal Disk Format.” It is the file system standard used for CDs and DVDs developed as a means of ensuring consistency among data written to different optical media by enabling both data interchange and the implementation of the ISO/IEC 13346 standard. This file system is required for DVDs and is used to contain MPEG audio/video streams.

UDF was originally developed as replacement to ISO 9660, the file system specifications in the original CD-ROM standard. CDs used UDF in a process called “packet writing” which makes CD writing more efficient in terms of time and disk space requirement.

The UDF specification was defined by the OSTA or the Optical Storage Technology Association as a subset of ISO/IEC 13346 which they promoted as a single file system that overcomes the restrictions of ISO 9660 and redirectors like CDFS. UDF is used to guarantee compatibility across platforms including among different CD and DVD applications.

If you have a disc image that uses the UDF file system, the easiest way to extract its contents is to extract it with 7-Zip.
