Hello,

I have a Canon point and shoot that is 5 mega pixels. Is that enough mega pixels to print out a great 8 x 10 photo? Should I get a camera with a higher setting?

Hi

No, for 8×10 quality photo % mega pixel camera will not be perfect, it wont provide you a good quality picture when you take a photo from it. I recommend you to have a camera of 8 pixel or more to have a high quality 8×10 photo.

Thank You

You can develop high quality 8×10 photos if the minimum resolution is set at 300 PPI (Pixels per Inch). 5 Mega Pixel has turned obsolete now so it will be better if you opt for higher MP for Canon Powershot or similar series digital cameras. Sharpness rest upon more of your photographic expertise than the figure of megapixels, since most people use such a careless approach when capturing subjects that the image is greatly blurred.

A clean stable shot from a 5 MP camera is much better on 8×10 photos than a shot taken from a 10 MP or more cameras without taking Exposure Value (EV), Depth of field and aperture settings.
