Hi,

The ‘solver’ that is integrated in Microsoft Excel 2008, (VBA) was a different application and it was working very slowly.  I would like to know how I can re-install it back into the Excel worksheet as I can be able to work with it better. I will appreciate any assistance/suggestions from anyone.

Hi Marshall,

If you are using Macintosh then you can download a solver free of charge and install it on your worksheet. To use the solver you should have excel 12.1.2 or a later version. I am not sure if you have this version if not then install this version, check the version you have by starting excel the get about excel selected. For you to be able to work well with it.

To download this version manually visit https://products.office.com/en-us/mac/microsoft-office-for-mac and click on the download which is usually at the top of the page. If you start from 12.1.0 go to 12.1.1 then to 12.1.2. To download the solver free of charge visit https://www.solver.com/solver-2008-mac and fill in the form, it is easier if you have previously registered on the same site. Block all the popups and give it time to download it takes up to 30 seconds for the download dialog to be seen.
