How to install Service Pack 2 to install IE9

I have a newly installed Windows Vista Service Pack 1.

As I was trying to install the latest version of Internet Explorer, I am getting an error;

Service Pack is not supported

I know I need to install Service Pack 2, but I don’t know how to manually do it. I already turned the updates on.

But I am still getting error.

Service Pack is not supported

 

Setup doesn't support the Windows service pack version currently installed on your computer.

How to install Service Pack 2 to install IE9

 

To turn the Automatic Updates on, you need to go to Control Panel and check for updates under the Security. But in order to install the Service Pack 2 (SP2), you need a Service Pack 1.

To know if the Service Pack 2 is already installed;

• Click Start then go to Computer
• Right-click then go to Properties
• If you can see the SP2 on the Windows edition section, then SP2 is already installed.

 

To install Service Pack 2 using Automatic Updates;

• Ensure that you are connected to the internet.
• Click Start>All Programs>Windows Update
• On the left pane, Click Check for Updates
• Click View Availabale Updates. You can see if the Service Pack  is available on the list of updates. Select Microsoft Windows (KB948465), then Install.

If SP2 is not available on the list of updates, install first all the recommended and important updates. Then go back to Windows Update page then click Check for Updates.

• Follow the instruction on screen. You might need to perform a several restart upon installing the updates.
• When the installation is complete, logon to your computer. You can see a notification indicating whether the update is successful.

• Enable your Anti-Virus if you disable it before installing SP2.
