How do I upload a video on YouTube?

I need a tutorial on how to upload a video on YouTube.  I just created my account on YouTube.  I have an mpeg video file that I would like to upload but I only want my friends to see it.  Is there a privacy setting on YouTube?  Do I still have to convert my video before upload and can I also upload multiple videos simultaneously?

How do I upload a video on YouTube?

Hi there,

 

You mentioned that the video file you want to upload on Youtube is mpeg, good news is you don't have to convert is since it is support on Youtube. Other formats are:

 

.MOV

.MPEG4

.AVI

.WMV

.MPEGPS

.FLV

3GPP

WebM

 

And yes! there is a privacy setting there as well. When you upload a video on YouTube it is set as a public video by default, meaning anybody can view it but you can easily change it's privacy setting while you're uploading the video in the Privacy Setting section or if you already uploaded the video, just follow the steps below:

 

1. Visit your Video Manager

2. Look for the video you want to change then click the Edit button

3. In the Privacy Setting menu, select Public, Unlisted or Private then click Save Changes.

 

The Unlisted videos means that only people who have the link to the video can view it. So I assume that this is the option you want to have since you said that you only want your friends to see it.

How do I upload a video on YouTube?

 

Actually, the videos on your YouTube account can be restricted from public viewing and only the username or email address you choose will be able to view the videos you uploaded. If you have already uploaded videos to your channel, you can change the privacy settings of your video from the Video Manager. Log in to your YouTube account then click on the small inverted triangle beside your username to display the dropdown menu. Click Video Manager then hit Edit beside the video you uploaded.

The next page shows you the options on how to edit the information on your video. You can give new title, change the description of the video, add or remove tags, change its privacy settings, and move it to a different category. Since you want your video to be restricted from public viewing, in Privacy Settings select Private. Enter the email address or the YouTube username of the people you will only allow to view the video. Lastly, click “Save changes” to save the changes you made.

To upload a video you must be using one of the formats: “.mov”, “.mpeg4”, “.avi”, “.wmv”, “.mpegps”, “.flv”, “.3gp”, and WebM format. For new users who are not yet verified, all your video uploads are only limited up to 15 minutes of playtime. To extend the limit of the video, you need to verify your YouTube account. To do this, click the Upload button on top of the page then click the link “Increase your limit”. Follow the succeeding steps after. Hi mates, all I can say is WOW. These were great comments that are completely jam packed with solid news about how I can upload a video. I’m not going to add to this conversation, but I just wished to say that you did a superb job. On the other hand, your contribution here makes me feel better that I have got my accurate answer. Going through your comments, using your one format, now I have uploaded my most favorite video I made with my friends.I am also going to upload a large video increasing the limit. Sharath, thanks for providing a video tutorial. I really appreciate your effort because it was very informative. A big thanks also to all of you who gave more information regarding my problem with YouTube.
