I plan on upgrading the OS on my desktop and laptop to Windows 8 from Windows XP 64 bit.  Can I do a software multi installation for both my laptop and desktop simultaneously so I can save time?  Is this possible?  Thanks in advance.

Windows  has always been one license for one computer.

You are required to own a separate license for every computer on which you installed Windows.

You don't have to buy a new CD for both desktops & laptop, just you need a separate License and keycode.

You can purchase additional licenses from here:

https://www.microsoft.com/store/msin/en_GB/home

If you do not do that you will the EULA that you agreed to during installation.

Hi there Dorindagmincey,

I see what you are trying to do, but unfortunately, it is not possible. Two computers cannot read one CD at the same time, and even if this would be possible, there are differences in speed, drivers and many other things. Also, every Windows installation has its own serial number so you can't install the same Windows on two computers. You can eventually transfer the license from one to another once you stop using one.

Hi,

The answer for your question is, You can and cannot. There are softwares that can have a parallel installation but those programs aren't complicated as of MS Office, and other crucial programs, drivers for hardware part can be multiple installed at the same time, large programs that may edit your registry a bit complicated cannot allow you to install another one, I would advise you to try and install multiple setups, a prompt box will appear if they don't want another setup opened at the same time.  You can try and experiments your programs. No errors and damage will be done to you.
