Hi there! I need to defrag my Exchange Server on a RAID system. So, I would like to ask you if there’s a recommended procedure for it. I would also like to know your suggestion regarding using a third-party application like Diskeeper. And the last thing I would like to know whether I should disable any service before defragmentation? I’m looking forward to your reply. Thank you.

How to defrag an Exchange Server on a RAID system
Hello Devonta,
Depending upon what type of server Exchange is running on and the version of Windows. You can leverage tools within those resources to defrag the disk associated with Exchange. Now third party applications like Diskeeper allows for above average monitoring and even scheduling of when you want to have the disk defragment . It will also provide reporting and prevent failure analyst as it pertains to your disk. With services running on your OS the only one's that should be disable are the programs or services that will try accessing the disk while the defragmentation is taking place. As long as you don't have any services or programs that will interrupt or try accessing the disk, you should not have to disable them.
Thanks
