How to deal with slow file transfers

 I have realized that my transfers are very slow especially if I mount an NFS area during % post that is during a kick start based install. Are there any other options that I should mount with so as to speed them up?

How to deal with slow file transfers

Hello Beris,

The reason why the transfer rate of your files is so slow may be because your computer is running on very low memory capacity, for instance 512 MB, and you have a lot of programs some of which are memory demanding programs which take a lot of system memory during execution and therefore slow down the computer. For your computer to be faster in executing the processes including the file transfers, you will need to upgrade the memory so that system memory is not exhausted by the applications you have installed.

You could also shut down some applications that you are not using so as to create more space in memory and speed up the file transfer speed.
