Virtual Box is a machine either hardware or software. It allows one computer system to act like another one. For the creation of Virtual Machine, we need to start VirtualBox. Install Oracle VDI. Choose the option of Applications on the desktop. Select System Tools option and then Oracle VM VirtualBox.

Simultaneously, give the Virtual Box command in the terminal and run it. By clicking New button in the toolbar, you will get New Virtual Machine Wizard. You can use Next button to move across several Wizard.

Right, with VirtualBox, you can create another machine or computer in the guise of a software. You can create a virtual machine that simulates an actual computer running with your favorite operating system called the guest operating system. But remember, before creating a virtual machine make sure your computer is fast enough to run two operating systems simultaneously.

If you create a virtual machine and run a second operating system, your computer will be sluggish. To create a virtual machine with VirtualBox, first, download and install Oracle VirtualBox. It is cross-platform and supports Windows, Mac, Linux, and Solaris host operating systems. Once installed, start VirtualBox then go to “Applications,” “System Tools,” and then “Oracle VM VirtualBox.” In Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager screen, click “New.”

VirtualBox create virtual machine

On the next screen, click “Next” then in “VM Name and OS Type” step, label your virtual machine. Enter your virtual machine’s name in the “Name” field then select the operating system you want to install under “OS Type” section and then click “Next.”

VirtualBox set name and OS

In the “Memory” step, just accept the defaults. This is the amount of memory your actual computer will allocate to your virtual machine that’s why you need to have a much bigger RAM to run a virtual machine. On the “Virtual Hard Disk” step, make sure “Start-up Disk” is checked. Select “Create new hard disk” then click “Next.”

Next, select “VDI (VirtualBox Disk Image)” for the file type and “Dynamically allocated” for the storage details. Accept the defaults then click “Create.” After this, your virtual machine is created.

To install your desired guest operating system on your newly created virtual machine, follow the guide in Creating a New Virtual Machine.
