How to check dead pixels on LCD monitors?

Hi, I just found about dead pixels on the LCD monitors and I am very much curious to know a bit detailed on it. In addition, is there a way to find out dead pixels other than by looking at the monitor and searching for one?

The easiest way is by putting your browser in full screen i.e F11 then press [Alt plus right arrow] to get to the next background page or pre [Alt + left arrow] to go back

OR

Use a Dead Pixel Locator to locate the dead Pixels in your monitor, this utility displays the dead pixels in a different color than the background color.
