Hello friends,

How can I change MB size of music? I have 300 songs stored on my local disk drive and it seems that having those songs stored in my hard drive can lessen the space needed for more important applications and data. I want to compress or convert those MB sizes into kB.

Thanks and Regards,

Janet Campbel.

Hi,

You want to compress those music files. You can make the music folder a ZIP and see how it works. Otherwise, have a good audio converter and convert those music files into a format of lower bit-rate and quality. You can save 50% space by doing this.

Thanks.

With my experience with audio files, the higher the quality of the audio, the bigger also the file size is. In audio or in audio format like for example, MP3 (.mp3), WMA (.wma), and others, the highest audio quality possible is 320 kbps. You can achieve this by setting the desired audio bitrate for the file.

One example is the MP3 file I have, the song “Enter Sandman” by Metallica. The length of the song is five (5) minutes thirty one (31) seconds (00:05:31) and set to 320 kbps, the highest audio quality. Its size is around 12.6 MB. One solution, if you want to lower down the file size or the MB, is to convert it down to a lower bitrate.

Download Format Factory and install it. Use it to convert your music files to a much lower bitrate. Note: decreasing the bitrate will also reduce the quality of the audio. So don’t lower down the bitrate below 128 kbps because this is the standard CD audio quality.
