HI, I am no longer able to access my HDD. If i try to access it shows the following message as shown here in an image below. It says "The file or directory is corrupted or unreadable". I have tried almost everything other than the main solution and got stuck. Can anybody help me to restore the information  and fix this error because it contains sensitive information of my business. Your help will be really important for me. Thanks in advance.

Hi Dear,

This is not much higher problem. It is just the result of an auto run virus. You will not open your drive by double click on it. But you can open the drive by run menu. For example if you want to open D drive so type " D: " (without quotes) In Run and press enter, your desired drive will open.

If you want to remove permanently this error so type these commands in DOS.

"Drive Letter":

attrib *.inf -r -s -h

del *.inf

attrib *.exe -r -s -h

del *.exe

attrib *.bat -r -s -h

del *.bat

You have to run these commands in all drives after one another. then just restart your computer.

This will be removed.

I hope this will help you a lot.

If the hard drive on that drive K is an external hard drive, try fixing the drive first using PC Tools Performance Toolkit. Follow the instructions to download and unpack and then install it. Once installed, connect the corrupt external hard drive to the USB port then start PC Tools. Go to “Recovery” tab and click “Repair Drives.”

On the next screen, select your external hard drive from the list of drives then select “Surface Scan” in the option. Click “Start” to begin the check. PC Tools will then check the drive for errors and then fixes any errors found. This may take several hours depending on the size of the drive and the amount of data it stores.

When it is finished, close PC Tools then open Windows Explorer and try exploring the drive. Copy all recoverable files from the drive to your local hard drive. Once all usable files have been copied, the external hard drive should be formatted then copy all the files you copied back to the external hard drive.
