Have I damaged my system?

I played GTA IV on my PC yesterday for some time. It ran fine but the CPU produced a terrible noise after playing the game for about an hour. The CPU starts producing such noise now too when I run any multimedia application for some time. The temperature of my CPU and GPU reach 70C and 90C after the execution of any multimedia application. Have I blown up my system?

Hi,

You should try to get it cooler with some case fans, which can be easily attached into the CPU. And do not play the games for a few days on your system. You can put the case fan into your CPU according to your budget. But I will prefer you to use best and branded case fans to your CPU.

It’s just a problem with the cooling system of the CPU which started after playing the game. Since playing a game will require much power from the video card and the processor, this will in turn generate terrible heat. As the processor generates heat as it processes the game, the CPU cooling fan has to work double time to compensate the heat.

It is the job of the BIOS to control the speed of the cooling fan to lessen the heat of the processor. As the cooling fan works at its fastest speed, that’s probably when the noise started because it will also make the cooling fan heat up. Normally, for experienced users, the easiest way to remove the noise is to lube the cooling fan.

But if you don’t know how to do it, just buy a new CPU cooling fan that is compatible with your heat sink. This should remove the noise from your CPU.
