Hi,

I have a video dedicated card and when I am trying to run a game I have this error with 3D device. I don’t have this error all the time when I play games but once or twice per week appears. I have reinstalled and updated my video card driver, but I still have this error. Does anyone can help me please to solve this error? Why I have this error and why I don’t have it all the time? Thanks.

This issue is really related to your video card which obviously, may not be compatible with your game. For the operating system, I don’t see any problem if you are using Windows 7 or Windows 8. If you already updated your video card’s driver and still nothing has changed, then you need to check the specifications of the device.

The game Starbound which is now available on Steam requires a video card with minimum 256 MB video RAM. The RAM that is required in the video card is different from the computer’s own physical RAM. If your video card doesn’t have the minimum 256 MB RAM and it is maybe lower, you will not be able to play the game.

You can shift to other games that are compatible with your video card and also, like what you said, the error only appears sometimes once or twice a week. This is maybe during the times you are playing certain games that are incompatible with your video card. You can either buy a new video card with higher video RAM or shift to other games that your video card supports.
