There are various tricks by which you can solve this error. I would suggest you try them out in the order I am going to state, this will ensure minimum loss of data to you.

Uninstall Play Store Update

1) Go to Settings.

2) Go to Apps.

3) Go to Google Play Store, be careful of not hitting Google Play Services.

4) Hit on Uninstall Updates.

Above steps will bring the Google Play Store to the version it was working on before.

Removing Google Account

1) Go to Settings.

2) Click on Accounts and Sync.

3) Delete the Google account that was showing an error.

4) Re-add the account.

Now the same account may work fine.

Try a fresh Sync

1) Go to Settings.

2) Go to Accounts and Sync.

3) Find your Google Account, tap on it.

4) Select Account Sync.

Above steps will sync your account to the Google Play Store.

Clear Data from the Google Play Store

1) Go to Settings.

2) Go to Apps.

3) Select the Google Play Store.

4) Scroll down to Storage.

5) Click on Clear Data. You could try clearing Cache first, but Clear Data does that too along with all data.

Above methods should help, and if not, then resort to the ultimate solution, Factory Reset your device.
