Hi,

I am using Toshiba Satellite L455D-S5976 with Windows 7 Home Premium. It was working fine till last month before I went for vacation.

After I came back from vacation, since last 1 week I keep getting the BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) problem and sometimes the system gets restarted on its own. It is happening even in safe mode. I have used Blue Screen View application to troubleshoot but I can't figure out the reason yet.

Is this a problem with some drivers or hardware? How can I find out and resolve the issue? Please suggest to overcome this issue. Thanks!

BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) occurs whenever there is a faulty in the hardware.

The spontaneous restarting of your laptop is caused by components that are overheating. The explanation to this phenomenon is that whenever the laptop heats itself over the nominal temperature, then the only way it knows how to cool itself instantaneously is by shutting down or rebooting.

Overheating occurs whenever there isn't airflow through the laptop's ventilation system. This means that either it's blocked by dust, or the fan isn't working at all. I would suggest using a can of compressed air to blow all the dust away by injecting it in the ventilation system. Or you can buy a cooling pad with more than 2 fans so that the airflow can cover a wider area under the laptop.

As i said before, the BSOD happens when a hardware component stops responding. A solution to this manner is doing a hard reset on your laptop by removing the memory modules and then power it on , leave it for 3 seconds to function, then insert the memory modules back. The reset will reconfigure the components to their original state.
