No it is not exactly the causes the hard drives problems to format it several times. If the hard disk drive is already bad, formatting the hard disk drive several times will not cause any additional problems with the hard disk drive.

You need to format the hard drive to re install the windows operating system by the causes of virus attack or windows file missing or any other problems. But it may not be create an additional problem of your hard drive. Besides this you can defragged it time to time for the best performance of your hard drive.

Thank you and good luck.

Hello  Lincon,

No, I do not think formatting the hard drive several times will cause to any problems, but it is the Operating Systems and other programs and applications that you install of the hard drive that might lead to potential hardware problems. Formatting the hard drive simply erases all the programs that are on it and leaves it clean to that you can place other programs on it.

But if you install say a faulty program, or an operating system that is incompatible with a particular computer you are using then you will find that the computer will not work properly.

You avoid many Operating System related problems; it is advisable to partition the hard disk so that when you format you do not lose all the information stored on the computer.
