When I tried to update Chrome, the following error popped up “update Google Chrome error 3”. How do I fix this? Is it necessary to update the browser?
The following error occurs when checking for the updates and the server is not available. To fix it,
1. Uninstall chrome and download chrome again and try reinstalling it.
2. Make sure your computer meets the system requirements
3. Review your anti-virus and firewall settings
4. Check for malware or try rebooting your system.
If you receive error code “3” when trying to update your Google Chrome web browser, try downloading the latest Chrome browser again. First, make sure your computer meets the requirements to install the Google Chrome web browser. The latest Google Chrome supports Windows 7, Windows 8.x, and Windows 10 both 32-bit and 64-bit. Google dropped support for Windows XP and Windows Vista.
Once you verify your computer is supported, download the free version of Revo Uninstaller and install it. Once installed, start Revo Uninstaller then select Google Chrome among the applications and click “Uninstall.” Follow the normal uninstall process. When uninstall is complete, click “Scan” to scan your computer for any leftover files and then delete everything it finds. This will remove everything the program created on your computer.
When it is finished, close Revo Uninstaller then open your other web browser and download the latest standalone Google Chrome web browser and install it.
