A server Client Access License (CAL) is a license that gives the user the right to access services from the Microsoft Server software. Every device that uses server software requires this Windows Server CAL. These are ideal for companies whose employees need roaming access to the company’s network using different devices. It is also suited for organizations that have more devices than users.

Features Of User CAL Windows Server 2012 System

“CAL” stands for “Client Access License” or the Windows Server Client Access License. It is a license that gives a user or device the right to access services like printing or access to a file share from a server running on Windows Server operating system. Microsoft offers user CALs and device CALs. A user CAL must be purchased for each user who accesses the server to use the services.

This is a more common licensing arrangement which grants every user the right to access server services from several different devices. Likewise, a device CAL must also be purchased for every device that accesses the server and is appropriate for machines that are used by several users like in a call center.
